To someone raising a child with a special needs, Change is not always a welcoming word. The word used so often in place of Change is Transition. Our children "transition" from early intervention to school age. At 14 our children begin "transition" to adult life and after school programs. Upon graduation our children "transition" to adult life and care.
If you are going through a change this year. If your uncertain and feel overwhelmed with making a decision that affects your childs future. If you feel all alone and are not sure where to turn..
The Arc holds a monthly Comfort, Coffee and Conversation parent group. We meet on the forth Thursday of the month at our Recreation and Respite Club located at 36 Hoover Avenue in DuBois. We meet at 9:30 am. Come when you can and leave when you must. Some meetings are under two hours, others have kept us engaged and chatting for upto four hours.. its all based upon need and topics of discussion.
IF you don't want to talk about your child or your situation and just want an adult cup of coffee and conversation we welcome that as well and hope that you will consider joining us.
